Scraptoft Golf Club is the only club in the East Midlands to achieve the Golf Mark award and the Clubmark Accreditation being a high achiever in the management of juniors in Golf.

We have a very active Junior Section. It is run by four junior organisers with help from the Junior Captain and Vice Captain. There are quite a number of Juniors at present and we expect more to join as the weather improves.

Half the section is made up of very young and inexperienced players. These receive subsidised coaching over the winter and again in the summer holidays, plus supervised play on the course, including competitions. They are entered for competitions for pre-handicappers and Under 12 or Under 14 sections at other courses each summer.

The older players also have subsidised coaching and play in a full programme of Junior competitions at Scraptoft from March through to October. We have a team in the Leicestershire League, play against five local clubs, and have many entries in the Junior Open Competitions. There is a good transport system to get Juniors to and from games where their parents can't help. Juniors may play in most adult competitions and are often called upon to play in an adult team match.

The season is rounded off with a 36 hole competition, dinner and A.G.M. in the October half-term, where we elect a Player of the Year plus next year's Captain and Vice Captain. A Winter Competition is held for those keen players who want to play on into the football season.

Although the usual dress rules apply, we try to be sensible where young players are concerned.
